The interior envelope contains gas, lighter than air and the outer envelope contains air controllable in quantity and temperature. This control of the air component provides control of altitude, without loss of gas or need for ballast. A rigid structure (2) carries an inner envelope (4) supplied (6) with a lighter than air gas. A heater (9) supplies hot air to the volume (5) between inner and outer envelope (1) via distributors (12, 13) and a control valve (10). Cold atmospheric air is also supplied by a fan (3). By manipulation of the controls, the temperature and quantity of the air supplied to the volume (5) may be closely regulated.
|
