The planet wheels of the mechanism are ball-bearing outer races (3a) which are in frictional engagement with a mechanism outer ring (5) rigidly connected to a mechanism housing (8). The ball-bearing inner races are mounted on journals (4) attached to the planet carrier (6). The planet carrier (6) is pushed onto a shaft (7). The ball-bearing outer races are in engagement with the supporting ring (2) rigidly connected to the shaft (1) and can simultaneously serve to support the shaft (1), e.g. that of an electric motor. The mechanism has a space-saving design and can be manufactured at low cost. <IMAGE>
