<p>The feed troughs for the cows are behind fixed barriers. These comprise tubular frames (2), set vertically in a concrete plinth (1). Posts at intervals have U-shaped bearings for a horizontal shaft (9). This has pairs of arms (8) at intervals, each pair above an access to the trough. Suspended from these arms is a gate (6), shaped like the Greek letter "pi". A handle controls this shaft. The gate legs contacting the tubular frames deny access to the cow. The gate can be raised and dropped to other side of the frames to give controlled access.</p> |
