An electrode for an electrocardiographic machine consists of a metal needle (3) having a good conductivity which is embedded in a ring (1) of natural or artificial rubber containing fine carbon particles so that the latter has fairly good conductivity. The needle spans the ring without projecting one end and forming a diameter of the hole in the middle. The other end of the needle is pointed and fits into a sleeve (4) forming a connection with a lead to the machine. In use, a liquid such as a depolarising electrolyte is inserted in the hole in the resilient ring. It is then applied to the patient, by securing the sleeve (4) to the skin by an adhesive strip.
|
