Regulation of high alternating voltages in transmission lines - has capacitor voltage divider supplying monitor via full wave rectifier

Circuit for regulating high alternating voltages in transmission lines, contains a capacitor voltage divider (C1, C2) to form a connection across the voltage which has to be regulated and a monitoring unit (A) which is connected across one of the capacitors (C2) of the divider. When the voltage to be regulated is interrupted for a short period, the capacitor of the voltage divider supplying the monitoring unit will be discharged through a full-wave rectifier circuit for the short period which follows when the voltage is restored. The input to the rectifier circuit is via a coil and a resistor. The output of the rectifier circuit feeds a transistorised trigger circuit which operates a switch. The impedance of the discharge path increases slowly during the last section of the period and becomes effectively an open circuit at the end.
