A plastic tank, and a tank for heating oil in particular, is produced by bringing a preformed inner container into a rigid mould and supporting it with distance pieces, filling the space between this container and the mould all with liquid polymer, and curing. The inner container is made of polymer such as polamide which is irreversibly crosslinked after cooling. While warm, but still not cured, it is enveloped with preformed glass fibre to serve as distance pieces. After placing in a mould the interstices are filled with thermosetting impregnant (pref. polyester), the system is evacuated and the inner space of the container is pressurised (pref. with compressed air). The still plastic inner container is forced against the inside mould and it and the impregnant are cured. An accurate moulded shape is obtd.
|
