The screw sleeve is made from rubber or plastic and has an external thread which is located between two smooth cylindrical end sections. The inside of the sleeve has a location groove for a metal clamp ring and sawtooth recesses cut in the wall. The opposite sleeve end is provided with an internal stop flange against which the end of the metal tube lies. After the sleeve is pushed over a metal tube end a hose clamp ring with a square expansion loop is eased over the outside of the sleeve. This contracts the metal clamp ring on the inside of the sleeve so that a firm joint between tube and sleeve is obtained. The metal clamping ring has an oblique slit in its surface allowing it to contract in diameter.
