A device for the measurement of press. in a corrosive or viscous medium necessitating separation of the press. sensitive element from the medium by a membrance is desgned to produce exact measurements independent of the stiffness of the membrane using compensation press. techniques. Such conditions require a small membrane of very stiff material. The effects of the membrance characteristics are nullified by maintaining its position constant. The press. exerted on the membrane (M) by the medium (V) is transmitted to the rod (St) connected to the lever (H). When the lever (H) is forced upwards it closes an electrical contact (5) causing current to be passed through the heating element (W) in the fluid (F1). The fluid expands or evaporates, exerting a downward force on the rod (St) until the contact (5) opens at the nominal membrane position. The fluid press. indicator (MP) displays a measure of press. in the medium (V).
