A grenade is launched from e.g. a firearm and is designed to guide combustion gases safely rearwards on firing as in 804791. It has a metal mass located inside the casing with an explosive charge around it; This mass is circular and is of a truncater cone shape, and behind it, e.g. at the larger end there is an aluminium or light alloy barrier disc with a central opening and further peripheral openings. Between the disc and the base of the metal mass is a flanged disc which is made of inflammable material, which may be celluloid.
