The pattern wheel on the unit is actuated by magnetically-controlled rods as the operating slide is movel. A drive wheel is coupled to the slide movement to actuate the pattern selection disc. This causes the switching magnet holder to be rotated, the necessary impulses being delivered from a data carrier. The design allows an electrical control system to be used with pre-programmed patterning.
