The equipment is for use both underwater and on land, having a striker block moving up and down in a gas-filled chamber in a housing accommodating a cylinder whose piston is coupled to the block, the cylinder being alternately pressurised in opposite directons by a reversing control. The housing (2) has mounted on it a drive unit (1) with motor (5), compressor (6) and pressure vessel (7), the unit being secured to the housing via damping devices (4) and/or flexible pull rods (11), so that it can move for a limited distance. There are flexible connections (8, 9) between pressure vessel and cylinder (30).
