<p>In the electropolishing or chemical polishing of the inner surface of an elongated vessel, symmetrical about its longitudinal axis and rotated about this axis, the process is improved by supporting the vessel so that the longitudinal axis is inclined to the horizontal. The polishing liq. has a volume lsss than half the capacity of the vessel. The vessel is rotated and simultaneously polished so that the entire inner surface of the lower end is polished. The position of the vessel may then be reversed so that the other end is polished. Used for polishing large cylindrical vessels having closed ends which may be used in pharmaceutical, food or beverage industries. One end of the vessel may be polished in one operation or both ends in two operations using a small quantity of polishing fluid. The entire surface of the vessel may be polished in two operations using a min. amt. of polishing fluid.</p> |
