Dental cement contg. copolymer of butene tricarboxylic acid - and (meth)acrylic acid, has improved compressive strength

A dental cement compsn. comprises (A) an aq. soln. of a resin pptd. by copolymerise. of (a) 5-60 pbw of 3-butene-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid, (b) 40-95 pbw of an alpha,beta-olefinically unsatd. monocarboxylic acid and nc) 0-15 pbw of additional comonomer, the copolymer having mol. wt. 5000-250,000 and the aq. soln. contg. >=40% resin solids, and (B) a metal oxide, the ratio of copolymer:metal oxide being 1:1-4. The cement has an excellent compressive strength.
