The thermal shrink-fit sleeve or cover similar consists of electrically resistive material that shrinks on heating. This material contains a web of interwoven flexible conductors embedded in it. Applying a voltage between any pair of conductors in the web causes an electric current to flow in the material which in turn sets up local heating and causes the material to shrink. Several constructions for the conductors are specified -- ie both the conductor cross-section structure and shape as well as the structure of the weave itself. The shrink material may also consist of layers of positive and negative coefficients of resistance.
