The range finder equipment consists of an impulse light or radiation producing unit (10) used to illuminate the required scene through an optical system (12). An optical receiving system (14) detects the reflected radiation and feeds this to a suitable amplifier unit (16) which then displays the image, or casts an image on a photographic film. The transmitted illuminating signal and the receiving unit are driven synchronously in a pulsed manner by means of timing (18) and clock generating units (20). A logic network for calculating the target range according to the reflected signal delay over the transmitted one consists of a number of registers, decoders, counters and display units.
