摘要 <p>An industrial ion exchange process in which the conversion efficiency is increased by adding back >=1 reaction fractions set aside during a preceding cycle of the same exchange reaction, externally prepd. ion exchange soln., and water from the resin bed, the same number and vol. of reaction fractions being taken off and set aside for a subsequent cycle, and so on repeatedly; relative displacement in direction of flow between liq. particles of added reaction fractions is suppressed until such particles reach the discharge of the vessel containing the resin bed. The concentration of co-ions in reaction fractions is kept constant by ensuring that constant vols. are added to and taken from the process and that the externally prepd. ion exchange soln. is of constant concn. in co-ions. Useful in the purification treatment of industrial waste waters, partic. the removal of obnoxious or toxic constituents from effluents. Also useful in desalination of brackish water and softening hard waters.</p>
