1466042 Dispensing discs BECTON DICKINSON & CO 21 May 1975 [10 Jan 1975] 21926/75 Heading B8S Sensitivity discs which are contained in the form of a stack in each of a plurality of cartridges 16, are individually dispensed therefrom and deposited in a corresponding recess well (24) of a receptacle (20), Fig. 6 (not shown), by means of the device of Fig. 5 which comprises an upper plate 62 having tubular openings 70 therein which each, in use, accommodate a cartridge 16, the plate 62 being attached by means of screws 64 to a lower plate 50 having openings 60 extending therethrough and arranged in the same pattern as the openings 70, the plates 50, 62 being movable relative to the base 18 of the device and the amount of such movement is limited by the engagement of guides 52 in slots 54 of the plate 50, and an intermediate plate 38 is stationarily mounted in recesses 42 in side walls 40 of the device. The plate 38 includes openings 46 and associated abutments 48 extending one into each of the openings 46. Initially, the receptable (20) is placed on the base 18 with its rear edge in engagement with a flange (56) of the plate 50, Fig. 3 (not shown), and cartridges 16 are located in the tubular openings 70, each cartridge being offset from its corresponding recess well (24) in the receptacle (20), the wells (24) being aligned with the openings 60 of the plate 50 and offset from the openings 46 in the fixed plate 38. The operator then pushes the receptacle (20) rearwardly and by its engagement with the flange (56) the plates 50, 62 are moved rearwardly, whereby the relative motion between the cartridges 16 and the fixed plate 38 causes the lowermost disc in each cartridge 16 to engage an abutment 48 and thus to be deposited in an opening 46, the length of the slots 54 being such that the openings 46 align with the corresponding openings 60 in the lower plate 50 so that the discs drop into the respective recess wells (24) of the receptacle (20) which may then be removed.
