1466158 Laminates PLATE BONN GmbH 10 May 1974 [12 May 1973] 17870/74 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions C3 and C2] Laminates are made using substrates of wool, silk, cotton, polyester, polyamide, leather or plastics film, and, as adhesive a copolyamide in the form of powder, film, filaments, or chopped filaments. The copolyamide is made by polymerizing, by wt., 25-35% caprolactam, 20-40% lauriclactam, 8-25% hexamethylene diammonium adipate, and 10-40% hexamethylene diammonium salt of wherein n is 7, 8, 10, or 11. Adipic acid may be present as polymerization-degree regulator. The copolyamide may be used to coat one substrate to form an interlining for subsequent hot-pressing to a second substrate. The copolyamide may be applied to a substrate as an aqueous dispersion, preferably weakly alkaline, which may contain thickeners and stabilizers. Plasticizers, e.g. phenolcarboxylic acid or its esters, or bisphenol A, may be incorporated, either in the dispersion, or, by melt-blending, in the copolyamide. There may be #50% wt. plasticizer based on total (copolyamide + plasticizer). Specification No. 1,172,427 is referred to.
