1465711 Dyeing polyacrylonitrile HOECHST AG 1 July 1974 [30 June 1973] 29099/74 Heading D1B Textile materials of polyacrylonitrile containing sulphonic acid groups are pad dyed or printed in presence of a carrier of the general formula wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are H, Cl, Br, nitro or C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy. Ar is a benzene or naphthalene ring, R 4 is C 1 -C 4 hydroxyalkyl and R 5 is H, C 1-4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 hydroxyalkyl, cyanoethyl, C 2 -C 4 -alkenyl, benzyl or cyclohexyl The textile is preferably fixed by steaming. The carrier is present in amounts of 10-100 g per Kg of pad liquor or print paste and a non- ionic emulsifier preferaby in amounts of 2-20% by weight of the carrier may be present.
