<p>Wood chip board is formed by pressing wood chip mats containing adhesive between electrically heated presser plateS, and during pressing the heating power is under programme control to adjust the density of the wood chips or fibres nd so control the overall density of the resulting wood chip board. The resulting board has uniform density and stiffness with a good surface finish. Pref. heating is controlled by controlling the current or voltage applied to the heaters in the presser plates and pref. the pressure applied to the mats is also under programme control. Pref. for a constant pressure the temperature is gradually increased to a desired level and then decreased. Pref. the temperature gradient in the board is below 0.50 degrees C/S.</p> |
