<p>1453638 Distribution arrangements COOK ELECTRIC CO 31 Jan 1974 [27 Feb 1973] 04617/74 Heading H2E A connector block, intended to link incoming telephone lines with a central switching equipment, compresses a mounting panel 12 having sockets arranged in groups 56-65 in rows 66, 68, and columns, groups 76 of terminal holes 73 positioned with each group 76 adjacent two respective rows 66, 68 of socket groups, a flange 88 projecting transversely from one side and along one edge 26 of the panel, and openings 92 in the flange to provide access from the front to the rear of the panel. The panel 12 has mounting holes 28-34 and dovetail ends 20, 22 whereby it can be linked with identical panels. Each incoming line (not shown) is connected to a respective test hole 46 or 48 which is round at the front and extends to a square terminal (52, Fig. 6) at the rear of the panel which receives a pin terminal on the incoming line; test equipment (not shown) can be inserted in the front of the holes. Each socket group 56-65 comprises five sockets a-e for receiving pins 44a-e of a protector assembly 44 which links sockets 44a to 44e and 44b to (44d) and connects c to earth as well as incorporating an arrester to protect against high voltage and current surges. Sockets a-e comprise circular holes at the front merging into a U-shaped section at the rear (Figs. 3 and 6). Each group 76 has twenty holes 73 corresponding to the twenty sockets d, e of the two adjacent rows 66, 68. Jumper wires (not shown) at the rear of the panel link holes 46, 48 to respective holes a, b and sockets d, e to respective holes 73. Jumper wires (not shown) connected to the front of the holes 73 are fed through the openings 92 in the flange (which thus acts as a fanning strip) to the switching equipment.</p> |
