1384967 Photographic silver halide materials FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 15 June 1973 [15 June 1972] 28702/73 Heading G2C Photographic silver halide materials have, as a non-stick layer, at least one non-photo-sensitive surface layer containing a homopolymer or a copolymer of a monoester of an aliphatic polyalcohol with acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, the homopolymer or copolymer constituting at least 10 wt per cent of said surface layer. The layer may be on the emulstion side or on the reverse side of the material, or it may be a layer which prevents sticking at an intermediate stage of coating a number of layers and which is itself subsequently overcoated. Polymers specified include poly-2-hydroxy-ethyl methacrylate, poly-3-hydroxy-propyl methacrylate, copoly- 2-hydroxy-ethyl methacrylate/acrylamide, copoly-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate/methyl methacrylate, copoly-2-hydroxyethyl acrylate/ 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, the graft copolymer of hydroxyethyl cellulose with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and the graft copolymer of gelatine with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate.
