1489526 Polyester moulding compositions CELANESE CORP 11 Aug 1975 [12 Aug 1974] 33371/75 Heading C3R A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises (a) polypropylene terephthalate or polybutylene terephthalate, (b) a reinforcing agent and (c) a phenoxy resin having an average molecular weight of from 15,000 to 75,000 and derived from bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin. Specified reinforcing agents are glass fibres, asbestos fibres, cellulosic fibres, graphite fibres and acicular calcium metasilicate which may be present in an amount of from 2 to 60 weight per cent, based on the composition. The phenoxy resin is preferably present in an amount of from 0À1 to 8 weight per cent, based on the composition. A flame-retardant composition may be provided by either (i) using a mixture of antimony trioxide and polypropylene or polybutylene terephthalate containing units derived from 2,2 - bis - (4 - ethoxy - 3,5 - dibromophenyl)propane, or (ii) using polypropylene or polybutylene terephthalate and a mixture of an aromatic halogen-containing compound, e.g. decabromodiphenyl ether, and a Group Vb metal compound, e.g. antimony trioxide. |
