A handgrip (1) is fitted with a gate (9) along one side of it so that the paper (B) may be trapped and guided to the rod at the correct angle. A fixed rod (3) protrudes in front of the machine, and the rod is clipped into a groove (12) at its rear end. A pulley (6) is rotated by means of a handle (7) and drives a belt (11) which passes over the rod (3). When the paper is passed under the belt and the pulley rotated, the paper will be wound around the rod in a helix and carried forward off the end of the rod.
