1455549 Split nut YELVERTON HOLDINGS PTY Ltd 28 July 1975 [29 July 1974] 31507/75 Heading F2H A split nut, see Fig. 1, comprises two halves 3, 4 shaped and adapted to be joined together, at least one end face 6, see Fig. 2, of the nut being chamfered such that the angle a is from 10 to 60 degrees. The chamfered end face may be part-spherical, instead of being frustoconical as shown. The nut may be used with a cone washer which is provided with an end face corresponding with the chamfered end face of the nut. The other face of the washer may be smooth, knurled or serrated. One nut half may be provided with key-like portions 21 which register with grooves 22 in the other nut half. Slots 23, which may be saw-tooth in shape, may be formed in the thread of the nut, and a circular groove 24 may be formed on the external surface of the nut to house a spring clip. |
