<p>The spring clip is for attaching a rail to a concrete sleeper. The rail (R) rests on a rubber sole-piece (S) which is positioned on the sleeper. The clip consists of a strip of metal (L) and a guide (G). A bolt (B) is inserted through a hole (1) drilled in the metal strip and a second hole (2) drilled in the guide. The strip (L) acts as a spring pressing on the shoe of the rail and on the corresponding surfaces of the guide. When the bolt is tightened, the strip transmits the stress to the guide. Both strip and guide bend towards one another, and the point of contact between them is extended enhancing rigidity. The guide finally stretches out to press its foot (8) against the edge of the rail shoe.</p> |
