PURPOSE:To increase strength, toughness and hardness, etc., by subjecting a molded material of mixed powder containing fixed ratio of ZrO2 and Al2O3 containing a slight amount of Y2O3 and having fixed specific surface area to foregoing sintering and hot hydrostatic press treatment. CONSTITUTION:Powder of ZrO2 containing 1.5-4.5mol% Y2O3 and having 5-50m<2>/g specific surface area and Al2O3 powder having 0.5-20m<2>/g specific surface area are prepared. Then, 50-90wt.% said Al2O3 powder is mixed with 50-10wt.% said ZrO2 powder, thus molded material of resultant mixed powder is subjected to foregoing sintering at a temperature of 1200-1650 deg.C. Next, the resultant sintered material is subjected to hot hydrostatic press treatment at a temperature of 1300-1650 deg.C and under a gas pressure of 100-2000kg/cm<2>. |
