The mechanism comprises a release pin (6) located centrally in the spring longitudinal axis and emerges either in the base of the gas spring or on the face side of the piston connecting rod. A hydraulic work cylinder (1) is fixed to the base of the gas spring or on the piston connecting rod end. The work cylinder piston (4) on the one hand acts directly on the release pin and on the other hand on a membrane (8) acting flexibly in the displacement direction (A) of the first piston.The membrane tightly locates on the outside of a work pressure chamber (7). An operating pressure chamber (11) is hydraulically connected (9) with the work pressure chamber and is part of an operating cylinder (10).
