<p>The device, used in the removal of probes, oxygen lances, etc., has a frame with clamping elements gripping the lance on the outside that can be swivelled in the vertical plane on a carriage or saddle that can be moved backwards and forwards. The device can partic. be used for repair of steelworks lances when these can be withdrawn without damaging or bending them. The lance requiring repair is lowered, with the help of a crane, through the feeding fixture, the clamping lugs are pressed on to the lance and the lance is stopped by the closure of the feeding fixture. The frame is tilted through 90 degrees by action of the tilting motor and the carriage descends through operation of the motor winch. After repair the carriage moves back to the starting point and through operation of the swivelling motor the frame returns to the vertical posn. The lance is fastened on the crane and brought back to its normal location after release of the locking mechanism.</p> |
