The joint is for a vehicle windscreen wiper linkage, and consists of a split plastics resilient socket embedded in a linkage rod (10). A hole (11) is drilled in the rod (10) and a ball joint socket is fitted in the hole to accommodate a ball-ended rod. The socket halves (13, 14) are identical, but one of them is rotated through 45 deg. with respect to the other. Each socket half has a ring flange (15) against which the socket inner lining segments are positioned. One end of each segment projects from the socket. The segments of one socket half are adapted to fit in between those of the other half, to produce a firm fit. Hooks (17) project over the flange edge to locate the socket segments. |
