<p>A galvanic cell of the alkaline type contg. manganese dioxide has a casing made of an inert and electrically nonconductive material which retains liqs. and is permeable to gases. The current collector of the depolarization agent consists of a cylinder of perforated strip or of a grid. This is a simple design which is suitable for mass prodn. It requires a less complex technology than metal casings with facilities for gas escape. Difficulties of ensuring a good contact with plastic casings are eliminated.</p>
