<p>Lashing for calves, scaffolding, etc. comprises a flat woven strip of thermoplastic material, in the longitudinal centre of which near one is an incision of which the cut edges are fused to form a draw hole. The strip may have fused ends or welded draw holes at one or both ends. The strip is formed by weaving or knitting an endless plastic fibres e.g. polyamide or polyester, to provide a width of 1.5-2.0 cm. and and a thickness of 1 mm. which produce a strength equal to that of a hemp rope of dia. 8.4 mm. It may be mass produced for this and other uses. The lashing has a smooth surface, and is snug fitting, soft and non-bulky due to its small thickness. The incision can be made simply with a heated blade, so that the fabric structure does not lose its shape during cutting.</p> |
