The wheel set guide is for high-speed running of rail vehicles. Each wheel set axle is carried on either side in bearings in housings retained height-adjustably by guide elements, relative to the running gear frame, and supported via spring units. A flexible connection element is positioned between one end of the guide element, and the neighbouring section. The flexible connection element (4) has an associated pressure element (13) actuated by an energy carrier (14), and which adjusts the spring characteristics of that element. A return unit (12) acts in a direction (16) opposite to that (15) of the pressure element, to reduce the tension in the elastic sleeve (6).
