1509552 Valves SAUNDERS VALVE CO Ltd 25 Feb 1976 [6 March 1975] 9452/75 Heading F2V In a fluid-flow control valve, e.g. a diaphragm valve, comprising an axially-movable operating spindle 13, that part of the spindle which lies externally of the valve casing is protected from grit, water, &c. by a pair of telescoped sleeves 18, 23 having sealing means 24 therebetween. The annular space defined between the spindle and the sleeve 18 is packed with grease for lubricating the spindle, the grease pack being covered by a felt washer 21 which also functions to wipe surplus grease off the spindle when it moves in the valve-opening direction. The sleeve 18 is of plastics material and may be brightly coloured to readily indicate the position of the valve closure element. |
