Front and rear electrically non-conducting spars 14, 15 are connected at 16 to ribbed plates 8, 9 to which the anodes 10 and cathodes 11 are secured. To ensure that there is no loss of electrolyte 12 electrically non-conducting insulating layers 6, 7 are arranged over the plates 8, 9 and sealed between the spar flanges and leading and trailing fairing structures by fastenings 5. In an alternative construction the spar and profiled surface structural members are formed as an electrically non-conducting battery shell, the anodes and cathodes being separate from the structural members. |
