<p>1420687 Boots &c BRITISH BATA SHOE CO Ltd 21 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 39654/73 Heading A3B A method of assembling an article of foot wear of the kind having an upper comprising a counter 2 and upper quarters 1a, 1b includes the step of securing directly together by stitching the counter 2 and the quarters 1a, 1b so that in use the counter 2 is directly in contact with the foot. In a first embodiment the counter 2 and quarters 1a, 1b are secured together edge to edge by zig-zag stitching 3. An outer heel piece 5 which overlies the counter 2 is then secured to the upper by stitching 4. In a modification (not shown) the counter 2 and quarters 1a, 1b are secured together by overlapping the edges of the counter and the quarters and by single or multiple rows of stitching.</p> |
