The invention relates to a process for producing alloyed sintered steel workpieces. Initially, a ferro alloy is produced from the alloy elements of the sintered steel workpiece and from iron and carbon, and this is comminuted and ground to give a pre-alloy powder. The pre-alloy powder is mixed with ductile iron powder, and the mixture is pressed and sintered. The ferro alloy contains the alloy elements manganese plus chromium or manganese plus vanadium, desired in the sintered steel workpiece, in the form of complex metal carbides and as much as possible of the total carbon desired in the sintered steel workpiece. This complex ferro alloy is subjected to comminution and then ground under a protective liquid to give a pre-alloy powder of a grain size of less than 10 mu m. This pre-alloy powder is then mixed with ductile iron powder in accordance with the analysis desired in the sintered steel workpiece. The mixture is pressed and sintered at temperatures from 1150 to 1300 DEG C. |
