<p>1381026 Pneumatic tyres MICHELIN & CIE (COMPAGNIE GENERALE DES ETABS MICHELIN) 1 June 1972 [2 June 1971] 25685/72 Heading B7C [Also in Division C3] Pneumatic tyres comprise side walls at least the outer surfaces of which are constituted by a mixture of at least one conjugated diene elastomer and at least one ethylene/propylene elastomer, the mixture having been vulcanized by a peroxide. The tyre may comprise radially disposed cords 12 embodied in calendered rubber 13 and anchored about bead wires 14, two plies of cords 15, 16 beneath tread 21, air impervious rubber lining 10 and side wall 11 composed of four layers 17 to 20 of which at least 18 to 20 are as defined above. Layer 20 may be white and 18 and 19 black. The conjugated diene elastomer may be natural rubber, polybutadiene, polyisoprene or butadiene/styrene rubber. The olefin copolymer may contain ethylidene norbornene, 1,4-hexadiene, methylene norbornene, dicyolopentadiene, 1,5-cyclo-octadiene or methyl tetrahydroindene. The peroxide may be dicumyl, diacetyl, benzoyl, dibenzoyl, di-t.- butyl or t.-butyl cumyl peroxide or 2,5-bis-(t.- butylperoxy)-2,5-dimethylhexane, which may be used with activators, e.g. sulphur, allyl methacrylate, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate, trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate and furfural/acetone condensates. The compositions may also contain antioxidants, oils and fillers, e.g. carbon black, silica, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.</p> |
