PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the excellent absorbing capability of ink by a method wherein a porous film containing the nitrates of a carboxyalkylcellulose, the degrees of substitution of a nitrate group and of a carboxyalkyl ether group per glucose anhydride unit of which has respectively specified values, is formed on one side of a base material. SOLUTION: This recording material is produced by forming a porous film containing the nitrates of a carboxyalkylcellulose on at least one side of a base material. Each of the nitrates of the carboxyalkylcellulose is an aqueous cellulose derivative having the degree of substitution of a nitrate group per glucose anhydride unit of 0.2-2.95 and that of a carboxyalkyl ether group per glucose anhydride unit of 0.05-2.80. If the degree of substitution of the nitrate is below 0.2, the insufficient water resistance of the porous film results, while if the degree of substitution of the nitrate exceeds 2.95, a lower hydrophilic nature and an insufficient absorbing capability of water-color ink result. In addition, if the degree so substitution of the carboxyalkyl ether group is below 0.05, a lower hydrophilic nature results, while if the degree of substitution of the carboxyalkyl ether group exceeds 2.80, the insufficient water resistance of a film results. |
