<p>1444442 Coated shirred casing UNION CARBIDE CORP 31 July 1973 [1 Aug 1972] 36341/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division A2] A shirred and compressed tubular casing having a coating of a moisture and gas impermeable material adhering to one or both surfaces thereof is provided with a moisture content of at least 10% by wt. e.g. 14-28%, said coating having an extensibility at 32‹F of at least 4% e.g. up to 15%. The coating material may be polyvinylidene chloride copolymer, polyethylene, a polyester, nylon and/ or a polyurethane. The coating may adhere to one or both surfaces. The casing may be regenerated cellulose or an ethyl, propyl or hydroxy cellulose ether. The casing may be reinforced with a fibrous web of hemp, rayon, flax, nylon or polyethylene terephthalate or with the fibres used in the production of yoshino or rice paper. Di-isobutyl adipate, dibutyl sebacate or 2-ethyl hexyl diphenyl phosphate may be used to prevent a reduction in stretching upon ageing of polyvinylidene chloride copolymer.</p> |
