<p>A machine for polishing television screens, has the screens mounted at intervals on a rotating table (1) so as to be presented in sequence to a rotary polishing unit (7). The table (1) is mounted on a vertical spindle on a pedestal and incorporates circular holes (2, 3) for screen location. The screens are set with their external faces facing upwards by inserting their tubes in a circular hole. The polishing unit has a horizontal resilient roller (7) mounted above the circular path followed by the screens. The polishing roller may use dry abrasive, be rotated at high speed, be subject to vertical pressure so as to adopt screen curvature, and be oscillated axially to obviate scratching. In addition individual screens may be rotated relative to their axes. The table may be rotated continuously or in phased increments and a vacuum dust extractor (8) may be used.</p> |
