<p>The tunable dye laser operates with longitudinal coupling of the pump radiation ensuring a good matching of mode volumes of the induced laser ration in the resonator and in the pump. The wider tuning range leads to complete matching of the mode volumes with a narrow band emission. The cavity has one mirror and one reflection-diffraction grating. The grating constant is selected smaller than the shortest wavelength in the system which also contributes to a higher dispersion. This ensures narrow band laser emission. The optical resonator includes planar mirror (2), reflexion grating (3) and the active medium in the form of a dye-containing cuvette with Brewster windows (4). The grating is set to the cavity axis at an autocollimation angle which is a function of the grating constant and of the induced radiation wavelength. Pumping is provided by the light source (5).</p> |
