A heat recuperator, used to transfer waste heat from e.g. flue gases to a flow of air at a lower temp., uses a set of spaced metal discs (14) which are rotated so that they pass through the heated gases then through the colder gases during each revolution. The discs are mounted on a drive spindle (13) mounted between the flue gas duct (1) and the cold gas duct (2), the flows being opposed. On the spindle is mounted a set of elongated spacers (7) between the discs, forming a comb between the hot and cold ducts. They extend across the dia. of the discs, and the spindle passes through them. The discs can carry four equally spaced spiral slots extending from the periphery to points spaced near the centre. |
