<p>This invention is concerned with flameproofed covering material formed of a textile fabric, especially cover fabrics or ticking materials for mattresses, pillows and sleeping bags, pads, cushions for chairs or sofas, slip covers for the latter, and so on. The flameproofed materials of the present invention may be formed of a close-woven fabric coated with (1) a thin layer (the intermediate layer) of plastic foam which is crushed and (2) a heat-conductive metal layer, such as of aluminum, which dissipates heat rapidly. The object is to protect the main body of highly combustible filler material in cushions, pillows, mattresses, sofas, upholstered chairs, and the like from fire in case of the dropping of a match, cigarette or the like on the cover fabric or ticking by someone, such as a careless smoker.</p> |
