Explosion proof wear and position monitoring device - signals limits of axial or radial movement of machine components

The explosion proof monitoring device ascertains the amt. of wear and position of machine components. It comprises an electrically conducting sensor insulated from the case housing. It interacts with test surfaces on the monitored part at a distance to the sensor corresponding to the permissible limit, so that, in case of contact, an explosion proof circuit is closed and trips, through amplifiers or convertors in the control unit, any alarm devices. In one form, the sensor is a single phase, single pole position sensor. Alternatively, it can be a single phase, two pole position sensor with the inner and outer parts serving as switch contacts.
