Apparatus for ionising room air and other gases e.g. O2 comprises a housing (1) containing a HV transformer and two rectifiers. Attached to the transformer is a pipe (4) which passes insulatingly through the housing wall and to which a negative or positive voltage can be applied by means of a switch (3) mounted on the housing. The pipe can be fitted with either a spray needle device for ionising room air, or a receptacle (5) which contains a spray needle device (6), filled with O2 and which is provided with a nozzle (8) for mounting a syringe (9). The receptacle may also be provided with a socket (10) for connecting pipes leading to an O2 bottle (11). The syringe is filled with negative or positive charged O2 which is injected subcutaneously to test whether a person responds to positive or negative ions.
