The ignition system is for use with rotary-piston engines having round cylinders. The sparking plugs (1) are detachably secured, mechanically and electrically to even working surfaces of the pistons (3), and between a cylinder cover and the piston are insulated switch surfaces, forming connection for each pre-ignition between insulated wires in the cover and others in the piston. Thus current surfes from a speed governor are released to the plugs, which are so mounted that they can be fitted and removed using a special spanner, inserted through a closable opening in the cylinder sleeve.
