The leads between the winding and the commutator on small machines may be retained in position by tapes or bindings which, even after impregnation, may allo movement. To improve this and prevent movement of the connectors due to vibration and other mechanical effects the wires (7, 9) are embedded in felt material (8, 10) which is subsequently impregnated. After connecting the lower layer of wires (7) a felt (8) is placed in position. The second layer (9) is then placed on it, covered with a further felt (10) and the whole is held down with a binding (11). Subsequent impregnation saturates the felt and the baking process consolidates the whole into a secure mass.
