The ship hull has a flat bottom (2) carrying a row of deflectors (3) symmetrical about its longitudinal axis. Each deflector is formed as a convex band, which increases in width from the end fastened to the hull bottom, towards its free end. The bands are of a fixed length, and are bent back to lie parallel to the bottom, in the director of movement, so that the convext side of each deflector is driven against the water. The deflectors are moved by air, produced by a reactor, and ejected through apertures at an angle of less than 45 deg. There may be one or more rows of deflectors on either side of the longitudinal axis of the ship, or they may be distributed over the complete ship bottom.
|
