Storage container for fluids to prevent their contact with air includes a hanging gas membrane (10) enclosing the open container (1). The container (1) is preferably assembled from segments (2) and is provided above the membrane (10) with an upwards projecting edge (7 )also assembled from a number of segments. The segments of the container (1) and the edge (7) are produced from a polyester resin reinforced by glass fibre. The edge (7) is reinforced by a flat steel (8) and a further reinforcement (9) from steel angles is also provided between the container (1) and the edge (7). The membrane (10) is so tensioned between the container (1) and the edge (7) that the stored fluid is prevented from contact with the reinforcement. The membrane (10) is fitted with equipment (12) for releasing air from the container and with an equipment (7) for measuring fluid level in the container.
